This is an original oil painting of Charlie Chaplin. Charlie was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who became famous during the silent film era in the movie industry. This is a man who grew up in awful conditions in his childhood, but was encouraged to carry on in the entertainment world from an early age. He was recognized and taken to the US, where he built the look and personality of Charlie Chaplin as we all remember him. I wasn’t aware of how involved he was in his films until I researched him, and was amazed to find out that he was an international pop icon. The world had gone crazy with “Chaplinitis”, buying merchandise etc. At age of 26 was one of the highest paid people in the world!
I knew he was known to be quite active in the female world, but I did not know of his taste in the younger ages, which often brought him trouble. It seems that he got it right in the end, marrying the love of his wife (again, much younger than him) with whom he had eight (!!) children. Unfortunately, although he saw great success in his famous film “The Great Dictator”, in which he ridiculed Hitler, his audience was divided. His popularity diminished when he started expressing his political views, and he ended up living in Switzerland. 20 years later, the States made amends and he visited to receive the Honorary Academy Award.
This painting has been produced using artist grade oil paint on gallery wrapped, linen canvas. A coat of professional grade art varnish has been applied to optimize the color pigment, accentuate brush strokes and ensure the painting will last a lifetime. The painting has been signed and is ready to hang. If you wish to reduce the cost and have it delivered in a roll, please request it in a private message.
